Postgraduate Studies

For starters, I would like to mention that from my perspective, having postgraduate studies doesn´t make you a better or worse professional, since I believe that work experience is the most important thing, since it is where everything studied is put into practice. There are many professionals who always get good grades in their studies, but don´t perform well in their jobs due to many other factors.

Personally, I think about doing a master when I finish my career, because I feel that it is important to be constantly studying, since this makes us question many things and be a much more critical person in terms of various topics. I don't really know what I would do my master in, since I don't know what area of architecture I'm going to focus on, but maybe something related to urban planning. I would like to do a master to grow personally and be able to contribute to society with a much more critical and focused look.

In my opinion, doing a master immediately after graduating isn´t a good option, since I believe that after long and sacrificed six years of study, it is necessary to take a break from them and start putting all this into practice, to go developing as a professional. In addition, I believe that if you enter a master degree after having worked for a couple of years, it will allow you to be much more critical in your studies since you will have a better perception of the reality of work.

Unfortunately, studying postgraduate in Chile is very expensive, which is why it often becomes difficult but not impossible, since I have heard of many scholarships that the same companies give to their employers or some that are offered by other universities abroad. If I ever could obtain a scholarship, I won´t hesitate to do my master.

  1. It is true that postgraduate studies will not define your career. It is the experience that you could get what defines your value as professional.
